Reunion Updates

Thank you to everyone that has e-mailed me about joining the reunion committee. Right now we have decided to keep the committee itself small with just the 3 of us but we will need volunteers for the "day of" the reunion. If you are interested in helping out that day, please e-mail Sherry at nths89@comcast.net . We will have a meeting about a month prior to the reunion with everyone who would like to volunteer at the reunion itself.

Committee Meeting - Aug 2, 2008

Well we booked our venue and date!!!! Per the poll the popular weekend was Aug 7th weekend and we really tried but nothing was available to fit our group size on that weekend. So we will be having the reunion the weekend of July 31st, 2009!
July 31st - Friday night - Student only get together - venue TBD
Aug 1st - Reunion! - Red Lion in Olympia
Aug 2nd - Family picnic - venue TBD
The actual reunion is in the same place as our 10 year but it has since been bought out by the Red Lion. Karen and I have been working with them for awhile now and shared some of the challenges we had with the hotel at our 10 year. One of which was that the food sucked! We had a tasting on Saturday and their food was AMAZING! We picked a menu we know you will be happy with. Some of the other concerns was the lack of bars available and the hotel itself was a little run down. Well there will be plenty of bars for this reunion and the hotel has gone through a major remodel and will continue to upgrade over the next year. We looked at their basic hotel rooms and they have been updated and are nice. The outside is getting a new paint scheme and the pool / spa area has been udpated as well. Karen and I are very impressed with how far things have come in the last 10 years and you will too.
There will be a discount for students who want to stay at the hotel. More to come on this.
We promise a great reunion. We are not using a lame reunion planning company, we are doing this ourselves and I have personally planned several large events in my career and the 3 of us have come up with unique, memoriable, fun things for our reunion. It will be one you will not want to miss and worth every penny! Good food, good drinks, good venue, good music, good surprises and GREAT friends.
Over the next year we will be asking things from you. Pictures, questions about food, alcohol, hotel staying, helping us find students and many other things. So please participate and help make this a success!
There will also be updates posted about more specifcs and when the time comes, you will be able to RSVP and purchase your tickets right through this website. I would guess the RSVP will be available around April 2009.
We do not have the final per person price figured out yet but are working within a budget that is the majority dollar amount people were willing to spend per the Reunion Survey. Somewhere between the $50 - $75 range per person. We hope to come in lower than that. As soon as we have a per person price, we'll let you know!
We are REALLY excited about seeing everyone and I hope you are too!

We met again after Karen met with the Red Lion which is where we had our 10 year to discuss our options. We know some of the complaints from the 10 year was the food and there wasn't enough bartenders so don't worry we will make sure both of those things are better for the 20 year. We are meeting wtih the staff again next month to ensure some things and as long as it's up to par we are probably going with them for our Saturday night event. We came up with some GREAT ideas so you have our promise this will be a fun reunion with some surprises. Nothing embarrassing, just fun!

Our focus will be looking for a venue for the Saturday night reunion in Olympia or Lacey. According to the survey we are thinking July 31st for the Friday night student only event, Aug 1st for the reunion and we are still undetermined on which day for the Family event. It is our goal to have a venue booked by the end of this June. We were brainstorming some ideas and put a poll on the Home Page so please participate in the polls. There is also a 20 year reunion survey so please fill that out as well.
If anyone has connections for vendors, ie: DJ, flourist, catering, photograher, etc. please e-mail one of us. Thanks!
